چکیده
The aim of the study: present study is to evaluate accuracy fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) thyroid swellings and correlate with histopathological findings avoid unnecessary surgeries for benign lesions.
Methods: this a prospective study. A total 55 cases were studied in Department Pathology at A.C.S Medical College Hospital. Fine was done correlated examination. Sensitivity, specificity, calculated.
 Results: majority noted among 41-50 years (60 %). Females i.e., 78.1 % (43/55) outnumbered males 21.8 (12/55). Solitary nodule Right lobe 54.5 (30/55) left 45.4 (25/55). In 65.4 (36/55) presented symptoms 1month – 1 year. Non neoplastic lesions constituted 76.3 (42/55) our on FNAC. Among non-neoplastic lesions, nodular goiter most reported 36.6 (20/55). Neoplastic 23.6 (13/55) follicular neoplasm occupied 9.09 (05/55). Nodular 29.0 (17/55). Follicular adenoma 20 (11/55), (05/55) as PTC 5.4 (02/55) carcinoma. 1.8 (01/55) each medullary carcinoma anaplastic Non-neoplastic FNAC (13/55).
Conclusion: minimally invasive, highly accurate cost-effective procedure. helps clinician diagnose malignant confidence. It has high rates specificity but comparatively less sensitivity solitary nodule. However, it an important diagnostic tool further management patients swelling
